So driving to work today, passed a city water pump station ( i assume that what it is, little buildings you see around town) and as i passed i see a city f250 hooked up to a trailer with a big 60inch+ kubota mower on the back and two guys out there fidling with a weedeater. The grass is so dead, crunchy and brown you couldnt even tell if they had mowed or not....my point here is that we have two guys making prolly $15 an hour(+benefits), plus the gas for the truck, mowers, etc....and we bascially have spent upwards of $60 to cut this little patch of land.
Willing to give credit where credit is do, i thought i would write about a great experience i had at the Fort Smith Public Library this past saturday. I went in looking for some books to take while on an upcoming plane/car ride. I decided i would look for some stuff on the civil war. Being somewhat of a history bugg, i like reading about the civil war. I went in and looked up some books, had a bit of trouble finding them....a lady by the name of Sara (i beleive) as well as a guy named steve helped me.
WHY IS IT LATELY THAT THE CITYWIRE IS ALLOWING THESE PERSONAL ATTACKS? THERE ARE PEOPLE ON HERE CLAIMING ALL KINDS OF PERSONAL THINGS ABOUT ME THAT ARE NOT TRUE......I'LL KEEP REPOSTING THIS BLOG AS LONG AS NOTHING IS DONE. I DONT PERSONALLY ATTACK ANYONE THE WAY I AM ATTACKED, SO LEAVE THOSE AT HOME
I think if you know me, you know that i am against tax hikes, fee hikes etc...I believe the gov needs to work with what it has, and what it has is what we the citizens give it from our own pockets. But the water issue last night was a complete joke. When you are charging $300 for something that costs $700+ that is not only insane, but it’s outright stupid and negligent. There is no business on this planet that could survive long term by constantly UNDER charging for a service or product.
This post is about something that is very disturbing to me.
If you were at the board meeting a week ago (15th) or watched the board on TV you heard that the board voted for the measure to approve the Middleton Farms subdivsion.
Since mr collins was nice enough to give us a list of restaurants that do NOT support the tax i thought i would add a list of resturants that do:
1). Golden Corral
Please feel free to ad your restaurant to this list...i would like to see as many as possible added.
Thanks!
Alright, after doing some brainstorming today i thought about this proposition.
The board/city/supporters of the prepared food tax say it will generate $1.8Million in tax revenue per year, provided they go with a 1% tax.
Using that figure and saying that people witll continue to spend THE SAME AMOUNT of money at the restaurant. For example the family that spends $60 on dinner WILL continue to spend $60 on dinner.
So using that $1.8 million figure, we are going to figure the average plate of food to be $10. $1.8million divided by $10 meal=180,000 meals lost.
Anyone heard the board may pass the prepared food 1% tax WITHOUT voter approval within the upcoming weeks? Just got to thinkin on this.....the CC is def in trouble. They are all elected now, with the next election for the wards not for 22months.....It would all make sense, pass it now by the board, then try and make the voters forget by 2012. I know a few members on here have mentioned it (MC) then the thread was magincly shut down....anyone have any thoughts or insight? Please share!
This blog is about something very near and dear to my heart. The federal/state PUBLIC land. Also known as national and state parks. While I spend most of my time on this board, reading and posting replies over city politics, I thought this was such an important issue I had to post it on here. Over recent years we have all heard about local places such as the Mena trail system being closed then reopened, then threatened to be closed again. Here is a little story that happened this weekend to me and several guys while we were camping at Shores Lake, at the bottom of White Rock Mountain.
