Caregiving

Today we held our Caregiver's Meeting at the St. Scholastica retreat center. Aside from the delicious italian lunch, we were honored to have Rosemary join us from UAMS to speak to us about senior citizen care! We had a huge crowd and we appreciate everyone for attending. The crowd included activity directors, administrators, key persons, and volunteers from the area nursing homes.

Overcoming Obstacles

Been in the office for just over an hour and the day is very interesting! One thing we're learning here in the office is patience and will to accept things as they are! Our main computer is giving us problems, and itll be a bit before our computer guy can come in. From this we're learning virtues and getting around to other tasks that we need to do such as catching up on emails and preparing for our Key Person Workshop tomorrow- by the way, if youre a caregiver you can call 479.783.2273 for more info on that, as well as our Friends of Project Compassion Dinner a week from tomorrow!

2012 Friends of Project Compassion Dinner

We're excited to invite the community- our volunteers, sponsors, and facility staff- to our 2012 Friends of Project Compassion Dinner on Tuesday, July 24 at 6pm. The free dinner will be held at the Fort Smith Senior Activity Center at 2700 Cavanaugh Road. Special guest speakers Sue and Guy Dallas will be present from the Arkansas Alzheimer's Ambassadors association. In addition, we'll have lots of silent auctions up for grabs. Donations are graciously accepted.

Reach out and touch someone this Thanksgiving....

As the demographics of America change, so too do the demographics of nursing homes. As we live longer, the number of older and more debilitated residents in nursing homes increases. Many of these people have outlived their family and friends and have no one to spend time with them. Conversely, as medical advances continue, the number of younger people requiring extended nursing care continues to grow. These people are often isolated from other residents due to a lack of common interests.
