Feeling ashamed and saddenedI am a 1992 Alumnus of Westark Community College, now known as UAFS... You would have thought that with the big university taking over that this type of discrimination and homophobic behavior would not happen. I remember attending RN school at what was then a very small campus and I remember that we did not see this broad administrative homophobia within our small community college. We had lesbians and homosexual men in our classes and at our graduation and pinning ceremonies. I am saddened that in 2012 there is this reaction to a lecture series about a topic that is very important in today's society yet we did not have this type of reactions back in the day of our campus being a small community college.

clergy in politics = problemsThis is a fine example of why we should never elect clergy to political office. They can't serve two masters. The people always lose because the clergy have to go with their paying gig over the body of law.

“afraid of something that will possibly never happen”The B.O.D. has a fiduciary duty to ALL the citizens of Fort Smith. They should not put their personal interests before their duty to the citizens who they represent. Leadership is not a popularity contest, just because you can tell people what to do doesn't mean you're leading them. It means responsibility - it is the act of serving all the people diligently.

Fort Smith Board restricts sexually-oriented biz spaceWhy would anyone open them selves up for a lawsuit? These directors need to seek professional help. I think they should be held accountable personally if a lawsuit would happen. The City spent $800,00.00 already and how much more will they spend in the future? You know there will be lawsuits. Why why why?

Glad to see the board still panders to small groupsLet's not make rules that make sense for ALL of Fort Smith, or protect the city from 6 figure lawsuits....let's keep pandering to small little whining vocal groups. Fort Smith will never grow until the pandering stops.
