This is a joke, right?
An Alma man indicted in April on a federal
child-pornography charge worked as a paid vendor for the Fort Smith
mayor’s youth council until officials learned of his arrest last
August, city officials confirmed Tuesday.
Andrew Phillip
Nichols, 35, was an insurance salesman and camp counselor for Woodmen
of the World and a paid volunteer coordinator for Mayor Ray Baker’s
youth council when he was arrested Aug. 15 after a woman told police
she found inappropriate pictures of her 7-year-old daughter on a
recordable disk near his computer.
Alma police seized two disks
and Nichols’ computer tower, and Nichols later wrote a statement
claiming he had taken pictures of the girl “out of curiosity” during
the summer of 2006.
His paid relationship with the mayor’s youth program apparently began at the end of the same summer.

Van Buren Mayor Bob Freeman is positive about the city’s future, but will, in the national economic slowdown, be cautious with any new expenditure for equipment or staff.

re: no joke
I started working w/ W.O.W ealier this year, and resigned shortly after the storm in April, only because I have several years' contractting experience.
Woodmen of the World is a fine organization. I don't know of any connection at all, between the charges that have been brought against him and his employment at Woodmen of the World. I do believe I was Andy's replacement.
