Come on guys..

So driving to work today, passed a city water pump station ( i assume that what it is, little buildings you see around town) and as i passed i see a city f250 hooked up to a trailer with a big 60inch+ kubota mower on the back and two guys out there fidling with a weedeater.  The grass is so dead, crunchy and brown you couldnt even tell if they had mowed or not....my point here is that we have two guys making prolly $15 an hour(+benefits), plus the gas for the truck, mowers, etc....and we bascially have spent upwards of $60 to cut this little patch of land. Does their supervisor not realize that it has been 110 degrees and the grass hasnt grown since last week or the week before? I understand its not these guys fault, but come on, get with the program. Im sure their talents could be used at the parks, changing ac filters around city buildings, or something better besides mowing a patch of grass that doesnt need mowed.  Better yet, how about we check with a local landscape company, see what the charge would be to mow these pumping stations on a bi week basis under a contract? Maybe we would save money??????  Just simple things add up...but sometimes nobody looks at the simple savings.

Good Observation!

Matt, You are dead on buddy. There is absolutely no reason to have these guys mowing dead grass that doesn't need mowing. Utilize these resources somewhere it is needed! This is the kind of waste that the "Efficiency Study" called for by Director Weber & being conducted by the City's "Auditor" should be addressing. By the way, where are the results of this "Study", or is that another waste of money?
