Fort Smith Police Department Caught With Hand in the Cookie Jar

From Wikipedia: Ignorantia juris non excusat or ignorantia legis neminem excusat (Latin for "ignorance of the law does not excuse" or "ignorance of the law excuses no one") is a legal principle holding that a person who is unaware of a law may not escape liability for violating that law merely because he or she was unaware of its content. Does this apply to our local police department?

You really think they Broke the law?

The intent was to sell the rifles to the using officers but that intent was reversed when they found out they were not allowed to do that. I don't believe intent constitutes a violation of law.

Bradley,Spin, Spin, Spin. The fact is the chief lied to the BOD and got caught. Do you really think the city needs 115 assault rifles? Don't you think that money could have been spent in a better way?

I assume you are speaking to the AR15 issue. The fact that you have been unable to grasp is that the screw up was administrative in nature not criminal. It was an administrative regulation not criminal offense. It is like getting a red tag from a building inspector. He doesn't tase you and haul you to lock up, he lets you correct the issue and move on. Same deal here. It is a non-issue to all but the nutters. I would ignore it but want it clarified so folks will move on to talk about the real issues. Like the 46 chambers of darkness under the National Guard Armory which lead to the UN/Nato joint mind control project. You know the one that is implemented through environmentally friendly living and strong communities.
