Time stood still

Time stood still.  I did not want to mentally move forward to face my reality.  Even though I knew that, eventually, the odds were that I would again face those words.  I wanted to delay the message for a day distant in the future.  I just have too much I wanted to do before I die.  But my wishing would not my change reality.  My breast cancer had returned to challenge my body again.  

May 10, 2005 was the day my personal war against breast cancer began (BC-War I).  I was a champion fighter!  I beat it down!!!  

BC-War I - Battle Highlights include:
    •    eight rounds of chemotherapy (lost my hair)
    •    mastectomy
    •    twenty-five radiation treatments
    •    staph infection
    •    wound vac for thirty days
    •    frozen shoulder
    •    year of physical therapy
    •    reconstructive surgery
    •    (seven surgeries total)

So when, on June 29, 2012, my oncologist called to tell me that the pathology report said that there were metastatic breast cancer tumors in my lungs and bone and that there was NO cure, it was game on for BC-WAR II.

During BC-War I, I learned a lot!  I expect the same to be true during BC-War II.  My blog is a vehicle for me to share what I discover.  It won’t be boring!  Most of all, I hope it will be an encouragement to live life large even when fighting cancer.
