True Grit Comes in PINK!

Paint the Park Pink & Shoe Away Cancer recently provided me the privilege of being a survivor representative at these two Susan G. Komen for the Cure – Ozark events.  I was honored to be asked to serve but even more honored to stand alongside so many other women who have fought this deadly disease.

If you know me, I am quite the talker!  I can hear my friends laughing hilariously right now.  However, believe it or not, I am always observing body language even more than you know.  And yes, I am guilty of eavesdropping.  At these two events, here is what I observed:

  • Smiles
  • Tears
  • Laugher
  • Fear
  • Joy
  • Sadness
  • Relief
  • Madness
  • Wonder
  • Worry
  • Wishing
  • Hoping

In summary, after watching and listening, I decided true grit comes in pink!

Grit is defined as: firmness of character; indomitable spirit.  The survivors I saw all had True Grit!  True grit means you know how to fight by gathering up strength from your gut (firmness of character).  It means not giving up (indomitable spirit)!!!!

Pink adds flair into the breast cancer battle.  Survivors know how to take chemo, face fears, and give hugs like no one else. Yes, we know how to have fun, too!  Cancer may rob us of our breasts, our energy, and even our lives.  However, while we live, we will survive having fun.  If you get the chance to be around any of my True Grit Surviving Girlfriends….get ready to giggle! We make life count!!!  Tick Tock goes our fun clocks!

At the end of each event, I walked away reminded of how grateful I am to be on the list of survivors who are still fighting for the day when there will no longer be the threat of breast cancer.  Our battles will help pave the way towards finding a cure.  I am honored to serve with my sister survivors.  Hats off to all you True Grit Girls!!

Big Heart and True Grit

Patricia, your biggest gift is your dedication. No matter what you do, you are all in! God continues to work through you to teach us that miracles can happen every single day. With medical advances there is a cure for Cancer out there. Your grit is there, but your big heart is what we see! Love ya Sweetie!
