Hi! I'm Rosemary, the Development Director at the Children's Advocacy Center in Benton County. I have been here exactly 86 days, and to be quite honest... it has been eye opening for me. My former job was in the Corporate environment..quite the contrast right... When in the Corporate world, we planned, strategized, and executed in an effort to achieve the goal...double digit increases..
Take a look at the Statistics for year end 2012:
772 new cases.....+19%
735 forensic interviews conducted..+17%
207 forensic medical exams..+25%
1513 counseling sessions to children and their families..+26%
Age:
0-6...37.5%
7-12..43%
13-18..19.5%
Gender:
Female..63%
Male.....37%
DOUBLE DIGIT INCREASES!!!! The staff here at the CAC, upon review of these numbers were not celebrating the double digit increases. Those numbers represent innocent children being violated at an alarming rate. So what do we do? What can we do? Good question...I have a FANTASTIC ANSWER. One way is to get involved...Participate in our Fundraiser: Glow Run 5k on April 19th at the Frisco Stage in Downtown Rogers. For more information, and to register go to: www.nwacacglowrun.com. For Sponsors email me : rosemary@cac.arcoxmail.com. This is a Family event, with activities for all. 400 yd dash with "Super Hero Theme", 1k Fun walk, and 5k Glow Run.
Another way to help is to join our PInwheel Campaign. April is Child Abuse Awareness month, so if in the past you have seen PINWHEELS out in front of the Rogers Police Dept, each pinwheel represents a reported child abuse case. If you are like me, you may have been unaware of that detail. SO...Help us create awareness with the PINWHEEL, it's significance, and it's ability to help us to educate others, while raising money at the same time.. If you are a Business owner we would like to place our pinwheels in your Business for the year, selling them for $1, all proceeds going to the CAC. If you are self employed, you too can help by purchasing some and giving them away through your business. Everyone can do something..and PINWHEELS are cool!!! As a child I loved them, as a grown up, now knowing their significance, I own a few and want everyone to own one, keep one and give one away. That's the goal...PINWHEELS everywhere in NWA...Help me get there on behalf of the children in Benton County:)
We started a Campaign "Ordinary People Doing Extraordinary Things", its a way to recognize people in the community who have gone above and beyond for the sake of a child. Our first honoree was Jeremy from Malco Theatres. Jeremy decided to ask for a donation for the CAC at the midnight showing of Twilight, he later presented us with a check for $886.04. I thanked Jeremy, he responded with" I was just doing my job"...I disagreed , respectfully. Doing your job is to come and go and do exactly what you are paid to do..this was above and beyond that. This was no ordinary gesture..it was truly EXTRAORDINARY, so who will be next???? This story is an example of the difference one person can make , $1 at a time. Will you be the next "Ordinary" person to do something "Extraordinary"??? Tell me your story and how much you raised. Thanks in advance:)
If you are a Mom, Dad, Sister, Brother, Grandparent, if you have a child..would you consider helping another child, who you do not know, but who is represented in those statistics. Help us make a difference one child at a time
We are running toward a brighter future for the Children of Benton County...join us!
Rosemary..the voice of one
