Arkansas poultry imports banned by Russia and Japan after a grower farm in Scott County tested positive for the H7N7 virus, have resumed.
The infected farm was under contract for meat giant Tyson Foods, the nation’s largest processor of chicken.
Arkansas Livestock and Poultry Commission quarantined all poultry raised within a 6.2 mile radius and the entire infected flock was euthanized according to state and federal protocol.
These countries lifted the ban early last month and shipments to Russia have already resumed.
Arkansas poultry companies said they expected no material impact from these bans as they were able to supply their customers through processing plants located in other states.
Shares of Tyson Foods traded up nearly 1% on Monday morning, (Oct. 28). The stock price in the morning session was $28.40, up 26 cents.
