UAFS Lions #18 In Latest Rankings

Lions Leap To No. 18 In Latest Rankings      The UAFS Lions are moving on up.

A week after earning their first national ranking as a NCAA Division II program, the Lions moved up seven spots to No. 18 in the latest NABC/Division II Coaches Top 25, which was released Tuesday afternoon.

It’s the highest ranking ever for the Lions during their five-year history as a Division II program. It’s also the highest ranking for the program since being ranked No. 11 in the NJCAA Top 25 on Jan. 13, 2009.

UAFS (6-0) is the only Heartland Conference team ranked in the Top 25 this week and one of only two to receive votes. St. Mary’s was among the “others receiving votes” with one vote.

West Liberty (W.VA.) received 12 of the 16 first-place votes this week to take over the No. 1 spot. Bellarmine (Ky.), Drury, Florida Southern, Western Washington, Metropolitan State, Indiana (Pa.), Findlay, Minnesota State and      Dixie State round out the Top 10.
