The Roaring 20s were back in full swing on Saturday (Feb. 15) evening at the first-ever Fountains for Families Bootlegger's Ball. Benefitting the Fountain of Youth Adult Day Center, the event featured dinner, drinks, dancing, and of course, decadent costumes reminiscent of the flappers' era.

Guests arrived at the Choctaw Casino Hotel in Pocola sporting appropriately-themed zoot suits, fringed flapper dresses, and feathered head pieces. The evening kicked-off with cocktails and a lavish buffet dinner, which included roast beef, herbed chicken and sides, and an array of delicious dessert options.

Cutthroat Trout performed throughout the early portion of the ball, followed by DJ Trey, who invited guests to join him on stage for some fun and dancing. Attendees could also take their turn at the photo booth, using humorous props and accessories to help jazz up their pictures for the evening.

Dozens of items were included in the silent auction, ranging from grills and home decor, to gift certificates and spirit packages. A live auction was also held, featuring one-of-a-kind jewelry, including a necklace created by Rick's Custom Jewelry.

KMAG's Maverick served as the evening's emcee. Throughout the ball, Maverick took to the microphone to encourage guests to purchase $20 jewelry box tickets, for the chance to win the grand prize necklace.

The Bootlegger's Ball served as more than just a fundraiser, but a special anniversary celebration, as well.

"This year marks the 25th year for the Fountain of Youth, and this event is a way to help us commemorate that," said event chair Shannon Ladd. "This is the organization's first major fundraiser and we are really excited. Our goal with the Bootlegger's Ball was to not only raise funds, but to also raise awareness about our organization and the work that we do.”

Opening in 1989, the Fountain of Youth Adult Day Center works to provide a "safe haven and loving refuge" for caregiver families. The organization gives seniors and other dependent adults in its care a place to attend where they can enjoy stimulating activities and interaction. The center also provides nutritious meals for its clients, and a family-friendly environment, while giving caregivers much needed breaks from caring for their loved ones.

"We are so grateful to our board members, volunteers, and of course our sponsors for making this evening possible," said Kristi Graham, Fountain of Youth Executive Director. "We are proud to have this event all come together to support our agency."

Organizers plan to make the Fountains for Families Gala an annual event. For more information about the Fountain of Youth, call 484-7782.
