Toothpaste scientists have done wonderful things. We have toothpaste that whitens teeth, freshens breath, fights tarter, hardens enamel, and fights cavities. Why, then, can’t we come up with a toothpaste that doesn’t turn to rock-hard globs in the kids’ bathroom sink?

it becomes a cleanser

When it dries in the sink into those hard globs like you described it can then be used as an effective sink cleanser. Just turn on the water and begin scrubbing.
