Losing a Great Administrator
By Tom Kirkham - Posted on February 20th, 2008
I don't know what the sam hill happened within the police department, but many years of management experience has taught me that if you cut a managers legs out from under him, you no longer have a good manager, or even a manager for that matter.
If the city council wants to micro-manage everything ala the Steinbrenner School of Management, then fine, so be it, but don't expect to attract a good City Administrator now that you have basically told the last one that he did not really run the show.
Good Luck, Randy.

I don't know Randy Reed or Chief Lindsay personally but it appears that there's much more that went on than any us will ever know. I agree that Randy almost didn't have a choice given his own lack of confidence but it also appears that a "vote of no-confidence" in the chief isn't a forthright answer in the public eye. If anything positive has happened from these recent events...it's that the public needs to let it's voice be heard and we all need to get off the couch and get involved and be part of the solution. I have a great appreciation for anyone willing to serve the public as a city administrator, city director or police chief. I wish them all the best. I also hope the best result for the city of Fort Smith which in my opinion is "MORE JOBS"! Bring'em on!
How 'bout that $2 mill for the Marshalls museum! YAHOO!
