The Fort Smith Museum of History hosts its annual Murder & Mayhem Trolley Tour
each Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night in October at 7:00, 8:00, and 9:00 p.m.
Miss Suzette, an audacious spirit from the bordellos of the past, recounts the stories of Fort Smith's checkered and colorful past. As the "rubber-tired trolley" winds through the Belle Grove Historic District, she points out which of the beautiful historic homes are believed to be haunted, and its ghost story. Two murder stories are told, as well as the story of a bloody love triangle and, of course, a hanging! After all, Fort Smith is the town once known as "Hell On The Border" and the home of the famous "Hanging Judge," Isaac C. Parker.
Van Buren Mayor Bob Freeman is positive about the city’s future, but will, in the national economic slowdown, be cautious with any new expenditure for equipment or staff.
