Why not us?

I think it's great that this area is finally getting some semi-professional sporting events. I encourage everyone to take their families for a brief car ride up I-540 to Springdale and enjoy a nice afternoon at a state of the art new minor league ballpark. While you're there be sure to swing by the Jones Center for some senior recreational activities and some family ice-skating. On your way out of town be sure to check out the All-Star Sports Complex where the youth of NWA are practicing soccer, baseball, volleyball and basketball year round in-doors.

Then on your way back down I-540 after you've donated your hard earned money into the Springdale economy, please ask yourself what is it going to take to get such wonderful quality-of-place amenities right here in Fort Smith.

Hmm, I'm not sure the economics works

here in Fort Smith. I've often heard "why don't we have a Smith & Wollenskis like New York", or a "professional football team like Kansas City?" Crap. So is the remark about the city fathers "don't want growth" and other such nonsense. Study economics people! Its not that difficult to understand that our population base is different from NWA, New York, Tulsa, etc. If it was profitable, someone would do it. Free markets work.

Besides, who the hell IS the city fathers?!?! Is this some skull and bones society right here in the River Valley? I bet our shadowy puppetmasters are Masons.

As far as NPR goes, it is absolutely true that the city fathers don't want it - in fact, I heard they are trying to squelch all forms of free speech except for Fox News. I for one welcome our secret overlords diligent and fair ruling of classes in this sham democracy.

Why not us ?

Because Ft Smith is old money and with that come old ways. The city father's do not wont progress here. Thay like it slow and easy so thay can control the growth and how it effects them. That's all. We can't even get N.P.R.Radio here. Keep us locked down with low wages. Were like Mushrooms.
