Casting director Catrine McGregor is hiring role players of all ethnicities who are 18 or over and able to physically withstand 12 hour days outdoors in summer to participate as role players to enact a variety of different Afghan village scenarios during a two week training session in Arkansas from June 9-24 June, 2008.

World-class athlete, nationally acclaimed motivational speaker, Erik Weihenmayer will present a corporate leadership training luncheon at the Holiday Inn City Center, May 16, 2008, as part of a three-day visit to Fort Smith. Erik, the first blind mountain climber to summit Mount Everest and The Seven Peaks, will be a guest of Comprehensive Juvenile Services, Inc. to keynote The Fort Smith Youth Leadership Summit May 17. A much sought after corporate speaker, Erik's presentations include Bank of America, Procter and Gambel, Wal-Mart, Google, Merrill Lynch, and GE.

The 188th Fighter Wing has announced the dates and the headliners for the 2008 Fort Smith Regional Air Show.

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and the U.S. Army Golden Knights will perform on Saturday and Sunday.

The 188th is working on securing additional military demonstration teams, and the 188th FW / Fort Chaffee Community Council's Air Show Committee is selling sponsorships, chalets, and display ads for the official program guide. Funds generated from sales will secure top-notch civilian acts to round out the full schedule.

Christmas in Transit is the theme that celebrates the
Oklahoma Centennial. Prize money awarded for best floats: $175 for first place;
$150 for second place; and $100 for third place. Parade organizers urge area
businesses, activity groups, schools, churches and individuals to design a
